Please contact us via the Contact Us page if you cannot find an answer to your question below.
At Aim Up Psychology, we offer a wide range of psychological services including psychological assessment, individual therapy, couples/marriage counselling, family therapy, and limited group therapy sessions (such as psycho-education groups or DBT skills groups). See Our Services for more information.
Consultations at Aim Up Psychology typically last for 50 minutes, but the duration may vary depending on your needs and the type of service being provided. They can range from 50 minutes to a couple of hours, for example if completing a psychometric test with a longer duration. For more information, please see the Our Services page.
Our fees vary depending on the type of therapy and the duration of the session. Our fees also vary depending on whether you are accessing a rebate of some kind, most commonly a Medicare rebate. This is available through obtaining a Mental Health Treatment Plan, for further detail about our fees and other rebates, please see the Our Services section.
After an initial consultation, details of a nominated card will be securely recorded in our client management software. After each appointment, the fee will be processed using this card and a receipt emailed to your nominated email address. If you are accessing a Medicare rebate or another rebate of some kind, this will also be processed in the days following your consultation and the rebate will be credited back into your nominated account.
A Mental Health Treatment Plan is a plan collaboratively developed by you and your GP at your local general medical practice to improve your mental health. If you would like to organise this, it is best to call ahead and mention the purpose of your appointment to your GP. If you have a current Mental Health Treatment Plan or intend to obtain one, we will ask for a copy of this at your initial appointment and your Medicare rebates will be processed into your nominated account after each appointment. If you already have a Mental Health Treatment Plan addressed to another psychologist, this can also be accepted at Aim Up Psychology. There is currently a limit of 10 appointments per calendar year which are eligible for the Medicare rebate for psychological services, so it is best to check with your GP if you are unsure how many more appointments you might be able to access the rebate for.

Being comfortable with your psychologist is very important. It is critical that you feel you have a good fit with who you are meeting with and that they understand you.
At Aim Up Psychology, we use a practice known as "routine outcome monitoring", which involves measuring and discussing your therapeutic progress at every appointment, and also discussing ways to continuously improve the appointments for you, every time. This practice has been linked to improved satisfaction levels for clients with the services they've received and also general improvements in outcomes when compared to outcomes of those in settings which don't use routine outcome monitoring*.
If after a few meetings, you still feel uncertain if they are a good match for you, it is recommended that you raise this concern, if you can, so that your psychologist can try to address your concerns and accommodate any changes that would help you to feel more comfortable. If you decide to change psychologists, that is also ok! Our team can support you to find another local psychologist who may be a better fit and provide a referral letter if requested.
